Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito led the official reopening of the Puerto Nuevo Museum in a significant event held as part of the Tianguis Turístico 2025. The occasion marked the completion of a comprehensive renovation and modernization project aimed at establishing the museum as a cultural and tourism landmark for the region.
During the ceremony, Mayor Adame stressed the importance of joint efforts to bring this project to life.
“This achievement is the result of a close partnership with our governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, and her team, including Kurt Honold, Secretary of Economy and Innovation, and Miguel Aguiñiga, Secretary of Tourism. Their efforts have been crucial in driving this initiative forward and advancing Baja California’s development,” she stated.
The mayor reiterated that the museum’s renovation is part of her government’s strategy centered on inclusion, equity, and comprehensive growth.
The project required an investment of 3.3 million pesos and resulted in fully updated cultural and artistic facilities.

Notable improvements include a rotating exhibit program, a municipal service window to assist with administrative needs, a public security booth to ensure safety, and a modern tourist information center to guide visitors.
Mayor Adame explained that the museum’s main purpose is to showcase the many attractions the region has to offer. Through exhibits that highlight both local and national cultural heritage, the museum aims to celebrate Rosarito’s rich history and artistic identity.
The addition of public services and a security post will help bring local government closer to the community while ensuring safety for both residents and visitors.
With this initiative, Mayor Rocío Adame continues to lead transformative projects in Playas de Rosarito, fulfilling her promise to “make history” for the benefit of all.
