Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito officially launched the first phase of the “Urban Regeneration of the Iconic Popotla Boulevard” project. This event marks the beginning of a significant transformation aimed at revitalizing the tourist area with an investment of 27,993,510 pesos.
“This project is the result of an open and ongoing dialogue with our community. We have listened to their needs and worked together to create a project that not only improves infrastructure but also enhances the quality of life for our citizens and attracts more visitors,” Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Rosarito said.

The project’s first phase, which will conclude on April 26, focuses on restoring intersections and painting, which will renew the appearance of Bulevar Popotla. This improvement comes at a crucial time, ahead of the 2025 Tianguis Turístico, in which Rosarito is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors and showcase its best image.
The Secretary of Urban Development and Services, Luis Fernando González Vergara, explained that this urban restoration work will span from KM 30.600 to KM 32.400 at Bulevar Artesanal Popotla.

“In this first phase, we are restoring intersections, painting, improving pedestrian crossings, and restoring signage,” González Vergara explained.
To minimize inconvenience, works will be carried out in staggered shifts with partial road closures. It was also announced that the second phase—including the restoration public lighting, the creation of a bike lane, and the construction of stamped sidewalks—will take place after Tianguis Turístico, continuing with the valuable participation of the community.

Community representative Mrs. Lucy Castelán expressed her enthusiasm and gratitude: “We are very happy to see how our neighborhood is progressing. We want to collaborate with authorities to keep our boulevard clean and beautiful. We are a united community and are ready to provide our support.”
She highlighted that this project is a clear example of how collaboration between the government and citizens can generate positive results, boosting tourism development and improving the quality of life in Rosarito.
