The City Hall led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Rosarito hosted the conference “Human Rights for Persons with Disabilities” through the Disability Commission of Playas de Rosarito for cabinet members and civil society organizations.
The commission’s councilor president, Gustavo Fidel Ortiz Mendoza, thanked Melva Adriana Olvera Rodríguez, Deputy Secretary of Human Rights of Baja California, for the training imparted, which aimed to promote the rights of people with disabilities.

Ortiz Mendoza explained that issues such as disability, human rights, and basic accessibility criteria for this part of the population were discussed.
Moreover, Melva Adriana Olvera Rodríguez, Deputy Secretary of Human Rights of Baja California, thanked Councilor Gustavo Ortiz for the invitation and reiterated that Playas de Rosarito is a city that promotes equality initiatives.
She stated that the purpose of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities—which came into force in 2008 and Mexico has adopted—is “to promote, protect, and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all persons with disabilities, and to promote respect for their inherent dignity.”

She emphasized that this includes guaranteeing people with disabilities their right to be on an equal basis with others, thereby strengthening efforts to ensure that inclusion processes are effective and promoted across all social spheres.
At the event, Cabinet Coordinator Briza Bentley Ramírez delivered a message on behalf of the municipal president and reiterated: “In this government led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Rosarito, we firmly believe that inclusion is not a favor but a fundamental right. We want to build a city where barriers are dismantled, where equal opportunities are a tangible reality, and where every person, regardless of their condition, can reach their full potential.”
