In an emotional ceremony, Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito handed over the first home to one of the families impacted by the fires that struck the Primo Tapia area in January.
“Today is a celebration of hope, a testament of what we can achieve through teamwork. Joining forces with organizations like Youth with a Mission (YWAM), which builds homes for vulnerable families through their Casas de Esperanza program, has made significant progress and provided a comprehensive solution,” the mayor said.
She also expressed her deep solidarity with the affected families and reaffirmed her commitment to delivering more homes in the near future.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Secretary of Social Well-Being, Ilsee Rodríguez Ramos, highlighted that Mayor Adame’s administration carried out essential work to ensure the home’s habitability. This included building a full bathroom, adapting the existing septic tank, installing a perimeter fence for added security, laying gravel, and leveling the ground. Electrical wiring and connections were also installed for power supply.
During the ceremony, Mrs. Liliana Rodríguez, the beneficiary of this first home, thanked the mayor, her team, and the YWAM foundation, emphasizing that, thanks to their support, her family now has a safe place to live.
In January of this year, Mrs. Rodríguez lost her house in a wildfire, leaving her and her children homeless.
