The municipal government led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Rosarito has officially prohibited the use, storage, distribution, and sale of fireworks throughout the entire municipality.

The mayor emphasized the importance of this decision to ensure the safety, peace, and well-being of Rosarito’s residents, as well as to protect the environment and public health.

“I thank and acknowledge the work and commitment of the City Hall and councilors for their vision and support of this initiative, which responds to a pressing citizen demand,” the municipal president said.

This measure was unanimously approved at the last City Hall session held on April 1, 2025, following the presentation and review of the ruling by the Governance and Legislation, Public Safety, and Health and Environment Committees.

According to Article 169-BIS of Civic Order and Justice Regulations, applicable penalties range from 100 to 1,000 UMAS and up to 36 hours of arrest, depending on the type of fine.

Additionally, Article 45 stipulates that during national holidays, patron saint festivities, and mass social or entertainment events, people using fireworks must obtain the necessary permits from the proper authorities and comply with safety requirements to protect attendees and the public at large.

The reform impacts several municipal regulations, including the Civic Order and Justice Regulations, the Public Health Regulations, the Fire Department Regulations, the Environmental Protection Regulations, the Domestic Animal Protection and Control Regulations, and the Internal Regulations of the Municipal Public Administration.

City Hall urges the public to cooperate with this measure and report any incidents related to fireworks (explosions, storage, production, or distribution) by calling 911.

Citizens are urged to act responsibly to avoid endangering people’s physical safety—especially children and the elderly—as well as to prevent fires and harm to pets and local wildlife.

The municipal administration reaffirms its commitment to building a safer, more orderly, and environmentally respectful community and invites all citizens to join this effort for the well-being of everyone.
