The 25th City Hall led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana held an event to strengthen the social and solidarity-based economy, with a special focus on the city’s youth.
During the meeting with students and officials at COBACH Nueva Tijuana, the mayor highlighted that the NODESS (Nodes for the Promotion of Social and Solidarity-Based Economy) program—an initiative driven by the federal government under President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo—aims to provide citizens with tools and strategies to actively engage in strengthening their communities.

“I celebrate that hundreds of young people, upon learning about these mechanisms and the positive impact they can generate, become committed individuals dedicated to their surroundings and the development of their communities. You are a fundamental pillar in building a more prosperous future for Tijuana,” the mayor said.
With this initiative, the City Hall reaffirms its commitment to creating equal opportunities for all, especially young people. Through these partnerships, Mayor Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana underscored the importance of providing a space where young people can collaborate and apply their knowledge to improve their communities’ quality of life.

During the event, students had the opportunity to visit several booths and interact with representatives from Tijuana’s Secretariat of Economic Development, the Secretariat of Well-Being, the Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture, the Municipal Women’s Institute, the Municipal Citizen Participation Institute, the Municipal System for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Teenagers, among others.

This meeting was attended by the Secretary of Municipal Public Education, Miguel Alfredo Nuño García; Deputy Ramón Vázquez Valadez; the General Director of COBACH Baja California, Gerardo Arturo Solís Benavides; Nueva Tijuana COBACH Baja California Director, Luis Ignacio Figueroa Robles, and the Academic Researcher of the Social and Solidarity-Based Economy Program at the Tijuana Technological Institute, Miguel Santana Rodríguez; as well as dozens of young students benefiting from these programs.
