Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of Tijuana, met with Alma Delia Abrego Ceballos, Baja California’s Secretary of Culture, where they spoke about their shared goal of establishing actions to bring culture and art to every corner of the municipality.
Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana emphasized that coordination between authorities of all three levels of government is essential to carry out projects that strengthen the social and cultural well-being of Tijuana to positively impact its residents.
During the meeting, Abrego Ceballos presented the mayor with a series of projects aimed at promoting culture in the city, including the Tijuana City Theater—a key initiative for the Eastern Zone, which lacks adequate cultural spaces.
This theater is expected to feature a sculptural garden and capacity for 1,600 people, providing a new opportunity to enjoy culture in modern and suitable spaces.
The Secretary of Culture also presented the Tijuana Canta program, which aims to involve people of all ages in artistic and musical activities, as well as the upcoming concert by Nortec with the Baja California Orchestra, scheduled for May 3 on Avenida Revolución.
This meeting was attended by General Government Director José Alonso López Sepúlveda; the Municipal Secretary of Culture, Illya Haro Sánchez; Delegation Coordinator Adriana Barrera Hernández; the Deputy Secretary of Cultural Development of Baja California, Ava Ordorica Canales; as well as Office Chief of Baja California’s Secretariat of Culture, Lino Chavarría Canales; the Operational Coordinator of the Baja California Orchestra, Daniel Ríos Solís; Baja California’s Secretariat of Culture Administrator, Grace Irina Cárdenas; and the head of the Tijuana Museum, Carmen García Montaño.
