Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of the City of Tijuana, joined Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and the National Director of Sports Promotion and Well-Being, Miguel Torruco Garza, at the “Boxeando por la Paz” (Boxing for Peace) event. This event demonstrated the joint efforts made to build peace through promoting sports.
In the presence of elementary and secondary school students from the Municipal Education System and parents, Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana emphasized the importance of promoting sports through specific actions, an issue that has been strongly boosted by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and the federal government.

This activity, which took place on Thursday at Unidad Deportiva Tijuana, brought together the mayor, the state governor, and the National Director of Sports Promotion and Well-Being, ahead of the National Boxing Class scheduled for April 6. This is a federal government initiative in which sports are seen as a catalyst for social transformation and peacebuilding that Baja California has joined.

Governor Marina del Pilar highlighted Miguel Torruco’s efforts to contribute to peace through sports and art to generate well-being, saying: “Here in Tijuana, the homeland begins and peace also begins. Together, we will build peace in Baja California.”

Lastly, the National Director of Sports Promotion and Well-Being, Miguel Torruco, shared a message from the President of Mexico which stated that sports are the path to building peace and reaching your dreams.
