Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana joined Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda for the launch of the Vivienda para el Bienestar (Housing for Well-Being) Program, as part of the president’s state working tour.

During the inauguration of this National Housing Program, the mayor witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony for projects that will generate positive impacts on the development of communities in need.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana thanked President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda for implementing programs that benefit citizens, reaffirming his commitment to continue working alongside federal and state authorities to build the Tijuana that families deserve.

Meanwhile, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo explained that the Housing for Well-Being Program aims to reduce the housing deficit affecting the most vulnerable sectors. The initiative includes the construction of 50,000 homes in Baja California—35,000 through Infonavit and 15,000 through the National Housing Commission (Conavi).

“We are launching the Housing for Well-Being Program in Baja California, which includes the construction of one million homes across Mexico, at least during this six-year presidential term. This project is aimed at those without social security, who are not affiliated with Infonavit but still have the right to decent housing,” President Sheinbaum Pardo underscored.

For her part, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda thanked President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo for visiting Baja California to kick off this program, ensuring families have affordable access to housing.

This foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Edna Vega Rangel, Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development; Víctor Hugo Aguirre, Deputy Secretary of Territorial and Urban Planning; Octavio Romero Oropeza, General Director of Infonavit; Zoe Robledo, Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute; Rodrigo Chávez Contreras, General Director of the National Housing Commission.

Also in attendance were Alfonso Iracheta Carroll, General Director of the National Institute for Sustainable Land; Carlos Torres Rosas, General Coordinator of Well-Being Programs; Leticia Rodríguez Amaya, Coordinator of Government Affairs; Yabnely Maldonado Meza, Executive Representative of Fovissste. In addition, hundreds of Baja Californians joined President Claudia Sheinbaum at the event.
