Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana inaugurated the first ‘Sendero Seguro’ (Safe Path) at the Chapultepec-Alamar pedestrian bridge in the La Mesa Delegation to provide safe and peaceful routes for Tijuana residents traveling through this area.
Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Mayor of Tijuana, stated that the launch of the first ‘Safe Path’ in the city stems from a comprehensive project for this area that involves the cleaning, painting, landscaping, and lighting of this route. This initiative aims to ensure the physical safety of Tijuana residents who travel through this area daily.

In his speech, the mayor of Tijuana said: “President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has rightly instructed us, as the Municipal Government, to continue lighting pedestrian bridge routes, rehabilitating areas that facilitate people’s mobility, and prioritizing safety. These actions are carried out in coordination with Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda.”
The work carried out for this initiative involved an investment of 200,000 pesos and is estimated to benefit nearly 10,000 people, particularly residents of the Durango, Jardines de Agua Caliente, Residencial Agua Caliente, Industrial Pacífico, Sonora, Camino Verde, Santa Fe, La Gloria, Las Brisas, Otay Nueva Tijuana, Alamar, Los Álamos, Ermita neighborhoods, among others.

Through lighting, adaptation, and improvement actions in the city’s streets and medians, “Sendero Seguro” will provide conditions for Tijuana residents to walk freely in specific spaces, like on this recently inaugurated project. This location is a high-traffic point where educational institutions and workplaces converge.
Accompanying the mayor at the “Safe Path” inauguration were the Secretary of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development, Virginia Vargas González; Councilor Ranier Falcón Martínez; Municipal Delegate Bianka Najar Soto; and Director of Public Services, Josué Gutiérrez Márquez.
