On the morning of Thursday, January 2, Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana announced the addition of new patrol cars and equipment for the Municipal Police. The aim is to strengthen security in the city and improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers.

At his press conference, the mayor presented the new Ford Explorer Police Interceptor vehicles, which are equipped with advanced technology, including video cameras.

The police cars will be equipped with five cameras: one at the front, one at the rear, two on the sides, and an additional one inside the vehicle. This will allow for the recording of all officers’ actions.
It should be noted that 144 police vehicles have been purchased and are equipped with GPS, radios, and recording systems.
Furthermore, the mayor emphasized that this equipment aims to provide a visual registry of police actions and ensure greater transparency and responsibility during operations.

Tijuana’s 2025 Security Strategy
The mayor also revealed a part of their strategic security plan: police officers will be gradually equipped with 250 body cameras during the first semester of the year.
“Explorer vehicle models are now part of the Municipal Police fleet and will be deployed in key areas to ensure security and prevent crime in the city,” said Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana.

These devices will not only record video, but also have features for audio and broadcasting, which will enhance the municipal police’s efficiency and transparency.

Tijuana’s Secretary of Security Juan Manuel Sánchez Rosales stated that eight additional drones will be acquired to cover the city’s eastern zone.
This recent technological advancement aims to enhance security for Tijuana residents and build trust in the local police.
