Influencer criticizes the use of beans in Tijuana-style tacos

Influencer Arturo Lemmen, better known as El Arturito, has been eating his way through Baja California, and it looks like he’s fallen hard for Tijuana’s food—especially the tacos. He’s been hopping from one restaurant to another, sharing his unfiltered opinions along the way.

Lemmen’s recent visit to La Guerrerense went viral after he admitted he wasn’t impressed with the tostadas, sparking a wave of backlash on social media. He also stopped by Caesar’s, the birthplace of the famous Caesar salad, giving it high praise but holding back from naming it the best in the world.

Arturito’s Thoughts on Tacos El Francés

During his visit to Tacos El Francés, Lemmen went all in, ordering an impressive lineup: suadero (tender beef), tripa (beef tripe), adobada (marinated pork), a vampiro de adobada (grilled tortilla topped with adobada and melted cheese), cabeza (beef head), lengua (beef tongue), and a quesadilla with carne asada (grilled beef in a flour tortilla with melted cheese).

After tasting them all, he crowned his top three: the suadero and the lengua tacos, and the quesadilla with carne asada. But when it came to the quesadilla, he had one big complaint:

“I could eat carne asada quesadillas every day. I just don’t get why the f*ck they put beans in them. What’s the point of the f*cking beans? It makes no sense; it doesn’t add any flavor. We’re trying to go low-carb, and they keep putting beans on everything.”

Despite this, he praised Tacos El Francés as an outstanding taquería and declared that Tijuana’s tacos are on a league of their own.

His comments, however, stirred up some debate on Instagram and TikTok. Some defended the use of beans, calling it a signature element of Mexican cuisine, while others argued that Tacos El Francés isn’t the top-tier taquería he made it out to be.

Whether Arturo Lemmen continues to explore Tijuana’s food scene is yet to be seen, but one thing is clear: he’s got people talking. What’s your take on his thoughts about the local tacos?
