During his trip through Baja California, influencer and foodie Arturo Lemmen, better known as “El Arturito,” stopped by Tacos El Mazateño in Tijuana.
At this popular spot, he decided to taste their famous spicy shrimp taco, which, according to locals, was invented right there. Following a recommendation, he also sampled the crunchy octopus taco.
“These are some of the best culinary creations in Tijuana,” Lemmen declared.
One thing that stood out to him was the price. Each taco cost $140 pesos (roughly $7 dollars), which he initially thought was steep. However, after seeing the gigantic size of the tacos, he quickly changed his mind.
Both tacos were drenched in a spicy seasoning with garlic and other secret ingredients, giving them a unique flavor that set them apart from other taco joints.
“They wouldn’t tell us what’s in it because it’s a secret recipe. They thought we might steal it and take it back to Mexico City,” he joked.
What particularly impressed “Arturito” was the preparation of the second taco. A whole octopus is fried in oil, cut into pieces, then grilled and covered in the secret sauce.

After tasting both tacos on buttered tortillas, Arturo was hooked. He admitted that the spicy shrimp taco was his favorite of the two, and went as far as calling them “some of the best f***ing tacos in Tijuana.”
Not stopping there, he also indulged in a flour tortilla taco, and pointed out that the restaurant offers complimentary cups of a flavorful seafood broth, which he found delicious despite being “hotter than Sonora in July.”
Along with his team, the influencer has visited some of Baja California’s most popular restaurants and stands. He recently sparked controversy on social media by not ranking La Guerrerense, an award-winning stand in Ensenada renowned for its seafood tostadas, as highly as others.
