As part of the efforts to strengthen ties between Baja California and California, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda held a working session with U.S. immigration authorities at Customs and Border Protection (CBP) offices in the Tijuana-San Ysidro port of entry.

This meeting was attended by Sidney Aki, Director of Field Operations, and Mariza Marín, Director of the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Baja California’s Secretary of Citizen Security, General Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, was also introduced to U.S. officials to enhance coordination efforts.
The governor highlighted the importance of maintaining close collaboration with the U.S. government to improve mobility at international ports of entry and enhance border security. She stressed the need to continue reinforcing this binational coordination to ensure swift, safe, and orderly crossings for visitors.
One of the topics discussed was the preparations for the 2025 Tianguis Turístico, which will take place from April 28 to May 1 and, for the first time, will include events in San Diego. More than 10,000 attendees are expected at several different activities, requiring significant logistical and cross-border mobility efforts.
Lastly, the governor underscored that Baja California will continue strengthening joint efforts with U.S. immigration and security authorities to ensure efficient and secure border flows that drive the region’s economic and tourism development.
