Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda officially inaugurated the Lázaro Cárdenas-Venustiano Carranza Road Interchange, a project that will benefit the residents of Mexicali by reducing travel times and optimizing mobility and traffic flow in the city.
The governor stated that this infrastructure project includes two elevated bridges and two underpasses, which will streamline the daily movement of over 250,000 vehicles, connecting the city in north-south and east-west directions. Approximately 700 million pesos were invested in this project.

“This project will transform mobility in the eastern part of the city and areas like Palaco, connecting them to Downtown Mexicali and significantly reduce travel times for everyone. This means more quality time and less time stuck in traffic,” she said.
Governor Marina del Pilar highlighted how transformative projects have been completed across the state thanks to the Respira program. In just three years of this current administration, 12 billion pesos have been invested in mega road projects, surpassing the resources allocated in this area in the previous three state governments.
“This shows that when public resources are managed honestly, efficiently, and transparently, it results in projects like the ones we are carrying out across Baja California to transform mobility and, most importantly, improve quality of life,” the governor stated.
She also highlighted that the construction of this interchange was completed in 14 months, meeting the timeline established from the project’s planning phase, considering that this interchange required high technical standards to deliver a safe and high-quality infrastructure project to the public.

Furthermore, Baja California’s Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Planning (Sidurt) Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo said that the interchange also includes a 500-meter-long interior tunnel with a south-to-north intersection, allowing access to either Bulevar Lázaro Cárdenas or Calzada Cetys.
He explained that on the upper part of this project large-scale structures designed to ensure continuous and safe east-to-west traffic flow—with three lanes—were built.
Lastly, Coca-Cola Mexicali Plant Sales Manager, Heladio Zatarain, stated that thanks to Governor Marina del Pilar’s efforts, this project will greatly benefit the general public, businesses, and industries, making traffic safer and more orderly.
