Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda recently shared news about the “Women 50 and Over” program, an initiative aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs in Baja California.

Coordinated by the local Department of Economy and Innovation, the initiative provides guidance and financial resources to help participants grow their businesses and generate greater benefits for their families.

The program is aimed at women aged 50 and older who are involved in economic activities. Applicants who are not formally registered with the SAT, or who have been registered for less than one year, are eligible to receive financial support of up to 20,000 pesos.

Governor Ávila Olmeda noted that in 2024 alone, the program distributed 5.5 million pesos to women across the state. This year’s goal is to continue strengthening women-led businesses and support their integration into the formal economy through sustainable, productive projects.

Kurt Honold Morales, head of Baja California’s Department of Economy and Innovation, explained that the money can be used to buy tools, equipment, or furniture, and is paid directly to the supplier.

He added that the program will remain open until the allocated funds run out, and that project selection is managed by the Technical Committee of the Baja California Economic Development Trust.

All procedures are free and must be completed in person. Citizen Service offices across the state are available to provide assistance. More details can be found here.
