Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led the “Con el Corazón por Delante” campaign event at the State Government Center in Tijuana, benefiting more than 4,000 East Zone residents with services and well-being programs aimed at priority sectors of the population.

During the event, she listened to requests directly from attendees, who also received assistance through several modules focused on health, education, procedures, and more. Additionally, they were provided with assistance from the Casa Fuerte program, vouchers for cataract surgeries, sports equipment, and books.

“Now, the people and the government are one. We will not divorce ourselves from the people. We are carrying out coordinated work that allows us to focus on priority areas. We are committed to reducing poverty in Baja California, which is why we created the Corazones program,” said the governor.

She highlighted that, in coordination with the seven municipalities and with President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo’s support, social programs in Baja California continue to grow. More seniors now have their Well-Being Card, more single women have their Violet Card, and more children benefit from the Pancita Llena, Corazón Contento (Full Belly, Happy Heart) program.

She also shared information about the project to build four toll lanes on Bulevar 2000, reiterating that the current four lanes will remain free to use as the goal is to streamline traffic flow and improve safety for those who travel daily on this road.

She explained that the new lanes will be available for cargo transportation heading toward US ports of entry, as well as for those who wish to use them to reduce travel time.

The governor stressed that the project will not affect public transportation or neighborhood connectivity and that pothole repairs will be carried out to repair the existing lanes.

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Planning, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, explained that restorations will cover 12 kilometers of this road, starting from the Tijuana-Mexicali toll booth and extending to the Tijuana-Tecate free highway junction.

He mentioned that the project will include improvements to access points and U-turns on the free lanes, as well as new signage and public lighting to enhance security and reduce the risk of accidents on the boulevard.

Meanwhile, the head of the Secretariat of Well-Being, Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán, said that the “Con el Corazón por Delante” campaigns are doubling down on addressing community needs. He invited those present to take advantage of the assistance modules provided by several state agencies.

He also shared information about the “Corazones” campaigns, which address the needs of people living in poverty by providing aid such as solid flooring for those with dirt floors in their homes and access to water for those without it.
