Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda visited the San Felipe Community Hospital where 40 million pesos were invested aiming to enhance specialized medical care for residents.
The governor emphasized her administration’s commitment to the health of San Felipe natives through initiatives like the expansion and remodeling of this hospital, which is part of the IMSS Bienestar program and meets all standards for providing quality medical care.

“We continue taking steps to further improve healthcare services in San Felipe. We already have the hospital built by President López Obrador, and now, with President Claudia Sheinbaum, we are working to ensure it has permanent specialists,” she stated.
The renovation project required an investment of 18 million pesos in infrastructure and 22 million pesos in equipment, ensuring top-tier medical services for San Felipe natives.

The expansion included the launch of the hospital’s surgical unit, featuring two operating rooms, a recovery area, 20 hospital beds, and X-ray services. Additionally, the emergency room was fully remodeled with a shock trauma area, an isolation room, and a rest area for specialists.
The governor noted that specialists from Mexicali General Hospital are assisting with medical care in San Felipe while efforts continue to recruit permanent doctors for the Community Hospital. Currently, the facility has six Cuban doctors and six additional specialists assigned for the Holy Week period, who specialize in internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, trauma, and orthopedics.
