“The state government is investing its resources in social programs and education to tackle the root causes of crime. With the support of the National Guard and the Navy, who are here today, we are working together in unity and coordination, always keeping people at the center of our efforts,” the governor stated.

She highlighted the importance of culture in helping young people stay away from drugs and crime. With support from the State Secretariat of Culture, the government is working to expand the availability of cultural and artistic workshops in priority communities.

An example of this effort is the Community Center in Colonia Robledo, where scholarships will be provided to children and teens who want to participate in beginner art and music classes.

“Today, culture is not just for the few. Music, art, and musical instruments are for everyone. More art, more culture, more sports. A child with an instrument or a football is a child who will very hardly get involved in drugs and addictions,” Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda said.

Secretary of Well-Being Netzahualcóyotl Jauregui Santillán underscored that his agency has a budget of 4 billion pesos to give continuity to social aid programs in 2025, including a promotion of Proyectos Productivos (Productive Projects).

He highlighted that during the current state administration, procedures to access this program have become more transparent as people can submit their budget plan and receive aid of up to 25,000 pesos to start their business.

This event was attended by the Mayor Norma Bustamante Martínez of Mexicali; the Delegate of Well-Being Programs in Baja California, Alejandro Ruiz Uribe; the Commander of the Second Military Zone of the Secretariat of the Navy, Sergio Zepeda; the General Inspector of the National Guard in the state, José Francisco González, as well as beneficiaries of the Productive Projects program of Baja California’s Secretariat of Well-Being.
