Governor Marina del Pilar Announces Empowering Celebrations for International Women’s Day in Baja California

Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar invites the community to join activities to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Baja Californian Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, aiming to foster actions and programs in favor of Baja California women, announced the activities that will take place in honor of International Women’s Day, including cultural events, sports activities, and training sessions.

The governor emphasized that this date is a time for reflection and action, reaffirming her government’s commitment to policies to protect and empower every girl, teenager, and woman. She stressed that daily efforts are focused on addressing gender-based violence and building a fairer future for all.

“Being a woman is synonymous with strength, struggle, and transformation. In this government, we work every day so that all women can live with dignity, safety, and freedom and we continue to promote safe spaces, opportunities, and rights that allow us to achieve our dreams,” Governor Ávila Olmeda stated.

One of the activities will take place at the State Women’s Justice Center (CEJUM) that will host the forum “Women Who Inspire” on Wednesday, March 12, in Tijuana. Here, women will share their experiences and success stories in overcoming challenges and accounts of their educational and professional empowerment journeys.

Additionally, the Woman’s Institute (INMUJER) in Mexicali will hold the “Women Free from Violence” event on March 7, featuring services and cultural activities.

On March 9, the State Secretariat of Citizen Security will organize Carrera Violeta (Violet Race), with two categories: a 2-kilometer family race and a 5-kilometer race for both women and men. This sporting event will take place at Mexicali’s Civic Center.

The scheduled activities will also include readings, concerts, talks, workshops, theatrical performances, and roundtable discussions focused on addressing public policies benefiting women in Baja California.
