During her recent visit to Baja California, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, alongside Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, announced a major expansion of social programs aimed at directly benefiting the state’s most vulnerable families. This initiative underscores the strong partnership between federal and state governments in their commitment to improving living conditions.

“Our Housing Program aims to build at least one million homes over the course of this administration,” President Sheinbaum stated.

A key component of this initiative is Vivienda para el Bienestar (Housing for Well-Being), which plans to construct 50,000 homes in Baja California. The program is designed to provide housing solutions for families who lack social security benefits or access to mortgage loans.

Governor Marina del Pilar emphasized the significance of these joint efforts, highlighting how they strengthen existing state programs.

Vivienda para el Bienestar reinforces the work we’ve been doing in Baja California. With this initiative, we will achieve the housing goals set by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo,” the governor affirmed.

This program will complement local initiatives such as Vivienda Violeta, launched by Governor Ávila Olmeda to provide safe, dignified housing for single mothers in vulnerable situations.

Beyond new housing construction, the State Housing Program also includes measures to legalize land ownership and financial incentives, such as tax reductions, to make homeownership more accessible for low-income families.

President Sheinbaum also announced an expansion of federal social programs aimed at improving conditions for those most in need.

These measures include pensions for senior citizens, and a newly introduced pension program for women aged 60 to 64, recognizing their vital contributions to society. The government is also strengthening educational support through the Rita Cetina Scholarship, which currently benefits all public middle school students, with plans to extend it to elementary and preschool levels.

Another major initiative, Casa por Casa Salud (Home-to-Home Health), will provide regular medical visits by nurses and doctors to elderly individuals and people with disabilities.

Additionally, the newly introduced Sol del Norte program will install 5,500 solar panels in households facing economic hardship across Mexicali. This effort aims to reduce electricity costs, allowing families to save up to 70% on their energy bills while promoting environmental sustainability.
