The long-awaited ferry service connecting Ensenada and San Diego could begin operations in the coming weeks.
Following statements from Kurt Honold, who leads Baja California’s Secretary of Economy, about the ferry’s launch during the Tianguis Turístico in late April, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, head of the state’s Secretary of Tourism, expressed optimism.
“We’re still working towards this goal. I don’t have an exact date for the inauguration (…) but we’re in the final preparations to ensure the Ferry Ensenada-San Diego is ready on time.”
Regarding the start of test runs, Aguíñiga Rodríguez said he had no further information.

Azteca Ferries Outlines Travel Policies
Although the official inauguration date is still pending, Azteca Ferries, the company responsible for operating the service, is already establishing essential travel policies and procedures.
One of the key points is that it’s the responsibility of each traveler to complete the necessary immigration procedures. Azteca Ferries urges passengers to confirm these requirements before their trip, as the company isn’t liable for any issues that arise with customs or immigration.
To ensure passenger safety, the company may refuse boarding to anyone who does not provide the necessary documentation or who presents a risk to ferry operations.
it was also confirmed that the ferry will offer support for passengers with reduced mobility. Wheelchairs and service animals can be brought on board at no extra charge.
