A 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook the San Diego County on Monday morning, according to Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) registered the quake, centered about three miles south of Julian in San Diego County. The tremor struck at 10:08 a.m. and has been followed by eight aftershocks so far.
The strongest jolt was felt on both sides of the border. As a precaution, Tijuana’s Department of Safety and Civil Protection evacuated its buildings.
No injuries or structural damage have been reported so far, but authorities are on high alert and carrying out inspections.

What to Do in Case of an Earthquake
Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego are among California’s most earthquake prone counties due to the many active fault lines in the region, including the San Andreas Fault.
In the event of an earthquake, your safety comes first. Try to evacuate buildings and move to a clear area away from trees, power lines, and other hazards. Protect your head and neck with your arms.
Call 911 if someone is injured or if you witness damage. This emergency line is free and available 24/7. Authorities recommend staying informed through official channels.
