Calexico.- U.S. Border and Customs officials seized narcotics valued at $894,000 in two incidents over the weekend, the agency reported.

The first seizure happened when a U.S. Customs officer became aware of a suspicious 2000 Ford Mustang while inspecting vehicles about to enter the country at the port of entry.

The driver was sent to secondary inspection, where a canine unit discovered cocaine contained in 25 packages found inside the vehicle´s panels.

The amount of cocaine was valued at $552,000, the agency reported.

The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old man, a resident of Mexicali, was arrested.

The second seizure occurred when officers detected signs of nervousness in a female driving a 2002 PT Cruiser.

Canine agents alerted officers to the presence of drugs. Inside the car, authorities found 15 packages of cocaine and methamphetamine hidden in the windshield wiper area.

The drugs were valued at $342,000, the agency said.

The driver, a 33-year-old woman, also a resident of Mexicali, was arrested.
