Mexicali’s D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program remains a cornerstone of preventive education, equipping children and teens with the tools to make responsible choices and avoid high-risk behaviors.

Last week alone, 9,065 students—from preschoolers to middle schoolers—took part in engaging sessions focused on values, prevention, and social awareness, reaching 151 schools across the city.
The program also hosted eight workshops for parents and held discussions on bullying and fentanyl with 386 students.

“As per Mayor Norma Bustamante’s guidance, we’re expanding these efforts across urban and rural communities, ensuring more students benefit from these crucial resources,” said Francisco Cabanillas, director of Mexicali’s D.A.R.E. patronage.
