The National Conference of Governors (CONAGO), under Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, showed its support for the Mexico Plan, proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, recognizing it as a transformative strategy to drive economic growth, strengthen the domestic market, and create jobs throughout the country.

In a joint letter released last Thursday, CONAGO governors reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating closely with the federal government to ensure the plan’s success. Each state pledged to develop key sectors like advanced manufacturing, automotive, renewable energy, technology, and tourism.

To that end, state governments will introduce targeted actions to stimulate the domestic market, increase productivity, and invest in infrastructure. The plan also aims to secure food and energy sovereignty by promoting self-sufficiency in critical resources, reducing dependence on imports from countries without trade agreements, and supporting local production.

A major goal of the Mexico Plan is to create 1.5 million specialized jobs. States will focus on workforce training to meet future challenges and enhance the talent pool in strategic sectors. The plan also aims to attract both foreign and domestic investment, with a $277 billion portfolio dedicated to fuel these efforts.

CONAGO also stressed the importance of the strong bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States, recognizing its vital role in maintaining economic stability.

“Thanks to President Sheinbaum, Mexico has secured a preferential position in global trade, protecting our producers and exporters from tariffs and ensuring fair conditions,” the governors stated.

Each state will contribute to reinforcing this relationship by promoting key industries, attracting investment, and modernizing infrastructure. In doing so, Mexico will continue to serve as a strategic partner of the United States, fostering collaboration based on mutual respect, sovereignty, and shared prosperity.

CONAGO concluded reiterating its commitment to Mexico’s economic growth and commending President Sheinbaum for building a future of opportunities for all citizens.
