Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito has introduced an ambitious revitalization and modernization plan to residents, merchants, and artisans of Popotla Artesanal Boulevard. The project seeks to transform the area into a vibrant tourist destination and a safe, welcoming space for all.
During an event led by Secretary of Government Jesús Santos Alvarado Avena, details of the “Por un Turismo Seguro” (“For Safe Tourism”) initiative were shared. The plan focuses on urban development, infrastructure improvements, and the creation of high-quality public spaces to enhance the visitor experience and support local businesses.

“Mayor Rocío Adame of Rosarito extends her warm regards and has entrusted us to present this proposal to improve the boulevard. It is of vital importance to her to understand your opinions, suggestions, and, most importantly, your feelings,” stated Secretary of Government Jesús Santos Alvarado Avena.
He further explained that the project includes plans to rebuild and remodel Popotla Artesanal Boulevard as part of the Urban Development Program for the Population Center of Playas de Rosarito.

The project aims to completely reconstruct the artisan passageway, enhance the central strip, and install modern lighting poles and custom-designed road arm posts along KM 27+360 to KM 32+400.
According to local officials, community input will play a key role in shaping the final design. Suggestions such as speed reducers, improved signage, enhanced lighting, and additional security measures are already being considered.
Further sessions will be held to gather feedback and ensure the project aligns with the community’s needs and urban development goals.

The event was attended by key local leaders, including Councilor Alan Bautista, Secretary of Urban Development and Services Luis Fernando González Vergara, IMPLAN Director Dalia Salazar Ruvalcaba, COPLADEM Director Susana Kareli Bátiz Trujillo, as well as Octavio Machado, Director of CANIRAC Rosarito, and Andrés Gómez Nájera, President of the Furniture and Accessory Makers Association of Rosarito (AFAMARO).
With the implementation of this project, Popotla Artesanal Boulevard is expected to become a major tourism destination in the region, creating new economic opportunities for local residents and contributing to the continued growth of Playas de Rosarito.
