Following instructions by Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, the Directorate of Tourism Assistance is promoting the State Program to Obtain the National Tourism Quality Distinction in the state’s seven municipalities.

This distinction, awarded by Mexico’s Secretariat of Tourism, recognizes service providers and tourist destinations that meet high-quality, current regulation, and continuous improvement process standards.

The program involves giving certifications, seals, and recognitions at both national and international levels, while assigning quality levels—bronze, silver, gold, platinum, or diamond—based on the fulfillment of specific criteria during the evaluation.

As part of the process, consulting firm Organismo Certificador 4U will visit each municipality to assess the quality of their tourism services and promote sustainable and innovative practices.

The evaluation schedule is as follows:

  • Ensenada: February 10 to February 14
  • Mexicali: February 17 to February 21
  • Playas de Rosarito: February 24 to February 28
  • San Felipe: March 3 to March 7
  • San Quintín: March 10 to March 14
  • Tecate: March 17 to March 21
  • Tijuana: March 24 to March 28

During these visits, issues such as public lighting, cleanliness, tourism promotion, commerce, tourist information modules, and others will be analyzed.

These actions aim to strengthen Baja California’s tourism quality by carrying out a comprehensive evaluation of its municipalities, identifying improvement opportunities and enhancing its competitiveness in the industry.
