The government led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana closed the “Albercas Las Palmas” recreational facility due to non-compliance with safety measures and lack of necessary operating documentation.
As a result of the “Safer Vacation” operation, Municipal Civil Protection Directorate staff has continued inspecting and verifying pools and water parks in the city, leading to the suspension of activities at this establishment, located on Avenida Oscar Baylón Chacón in Ejido Francisco Villa.

The head of the department, José Luis Jiménez González, explained that among the irregularities found were the lack of an Internal Civil Protection Program, missing evacuation route signs, and no mobile first-aid kit.
Additionally, a stationary gas tank was found without protection or signage, electrical installations were in poor condition, and of the four fire extinguishers on-site, two were non-functional and one was depressurized.
Since the recreational center failed to guarantee safety measures for its users and lacked proper documentation, Civil Protection officials evacuated the premises and placed seals announcing its complete closure.

“The goal of these operations is to ensure Tijuana families have a safe vacation during Holy Week and that all recreational spaces in the city comply with regulatory provisions. We will continue reinforcing our efforts to maintain a safe environment,” Jiménez González reiterated.
He also urged the public to report whether the pools and water parks they visit this holiday season comply with all safety measures or display a visible “Safe Zone” sticker on the premises.
The current municipal administration continues working daily to ensure the safety of Tijuana residents and visitors.
