The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, recognized the efforts of the 3rd generation of the "Mujeres al Volante" program, a group made up of 15 women who successfully finished their training process as transport operators.

This social program's goal is feminine empowerment, offering opportunities of labor growth in a safe environment with a decent salary.

The state governor revealed that, through this program, more than 50 women have been trained since 2023, and the intention is for this number to continue growing as it is a project that allows for the complete economic independence of its members.

She pointed out that the program is carried out together with the Secretariat of Work and Social Welfare (STPS), the National Service of Employment (SNE), the Institute of Urban Sustainable Mobility (IMOS), the Center for the Training of Industrial Work (CECATI), and several Baja Californian companies.

She also highlighted that, after a year and a half since it began, Mujeres al Volante has become a model program, created and invented in Baja California, that is being replicated in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. In addition, it will soon be implemented in Mexico City, Quintana Roo, and the State of Mexico, with support from the government of Baja California.

The head of STPS, Alejandro Arregui Ibarra, announced that the program will be part of a book that is being made by the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) of Mexico. This book will compile the best experiences of women trained in programs with a gender perspective.

For her part, the head of SNE, Blanca Patricia Ríos López, congratulated the women who graduated for their discipline, perseverance, and hard work to achieve this certification, while looking to improve their lives and the wellbeing of their families.

Meanwhile the director of IMOS, Jorge Alberto Gutiérrez Topete, said that Governor Marina del Pilar has instructed them to break paradigms to transform their vision of mobility, and he added that with the "Mujeres al Volante" certification alongside the Transporte Violete program, they are building a comprehensive framework to benefit girls, young women, and women of Baja California.

"It was a great challenge for me. I am a single mother and the head of my family. I thank my daughters for their support, they always encouraged me to achieve this dream that I always had, to drive a bus. I also thank authorities for making this program a reality," graduate Luz Esthela Díaz said.

It should be noted that ICEE Mexico, Ecollantas, Fantasias Miguel, Distribuidora Liverpool, Transporte de Personal Especializado, Grupo Electrónico Aconcacua and Nubus are the companies that will be active in the job notice board of SNE and will offer a safe job to graduates.
