The world is close to one million deaths caused by COVID-19

"Avoiding another million deaths does not depend on the vaccine" UN

The worldwide case update records 32,730.945 confirmed coronavirus cases, 991. 224 confirmed deaths. In Mexico alone there are 726 thousand 431 cumulative cases, 25 thousand 119 estimated active cases and 76 thousand 243 deaths.

Today, September 27th, 2020, on the World Tourism Day, the UN informs that tourism has suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 120 million jobs are at risk. These repercussions can cause between 1.5 and 2.8% of the GDP.

40 years after the first World Tourism Day many things have changed, there is more openness in the world, telecommunications continue to operate at high speeds, the demand for travel continues to increase. This has allowed many people to exploit territories and cultures.

There are many people today who depend on the tourism sector for their income and the pandemic has affected their economy.

Vulnerable countries are at risk, including developing island states and African nations where tourism accounts for 30 to 80 percent of exports.

The UN reiterates the opportunity to transform the relationship of the tourism sector with people, nature, climate and the economy. This should provide opportunities for people, as tourism can significantly contribute to preserving our unique and common cultures and protecting biodiversity and the ecosystems that sustain us.

The vaccine will not be the solution if there is no social awareness. This puts at risk the most unprotected sectors and millions of jobs that are at risk.

Data reported until 9:00 a.m. on September 27, 2020.
