The city of Tijuana is preparing to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a grand festival full of culture, cuisine, and traditional performances. This event will take place on Saturday, February 8 at Avenida Revolución, where attendees will be able to enjoy dance, music, exhibitions, and workshops that highlight the wealth of Chinese culture.

Activities to Celebrate the Chinese New Year

A spectacular parade will kick off this vibrant and colorful event at 4:00 PM on 3rd Street, through the famous Avenida Revolución, and continue all the way until 7th Street, where festivities will continue with a series of artistic performances, offering a day full of magic, culture, and tradition. Besides the parade, the Chinese New Year Festival in Tijuana will feature a variety of exciting family-friendly activities.

Enjoy a vibrant evening with the Ensamble Big Band, who will be performing a musical mix that fuses the best of our roots with the festive spirit of the Year of the Wood Snake. Another highlight will be the show by Iván Velázquez, who will provide live musical accompaniment to the film The Mighty Hero Gan Fengchi, creating a unique audiovisual experience that combines cinema and music.

For those who love skill and excitement, Tijuana Circus will perform a show full of surprises that will take thrills to another level. To close the event in style, two of the most iconic Chinese dances—the Dragon Dance, symbolizing strength and good fortune, and the Lion Dance, associated with protection and prosperity—will be performed, both presented by René Márquez.

Chinese New Year Celebrations in Ensenada

It’s worth noting that the festivities won’t be limited to Tijuana, as Ensenada will also host its own celebration on Sunday, February 9, at Centro Estatal de las Artes (CEART). At this event, visitors will be able to experience a unique cultural celebration with artistic performances, traditional cuisine, and several activities for the whole family.

The Year of the Wood Snake

The 2025 Chinese New Year will be under the sign of the “Wood Snake” until February 16, 2026. This animal holds great importance in Chinese culture as it symbolizes wisdom, creativity, knowledge, and intuition.

It is also associated with good luck, prosperity, fertility, and longevity, as snakes are seen as symbols of transformation and rebirth due to their ability to shed their skin. The “Wood Snake” is known for being charming, intelligent, and creative, but also cunning and reserved. This marks the return of this sign, which hadn’t been seen since 1965.

These festivals are an opportunity to connect with Chinese traditions and enjoy a celebration full of color and meaning. Admission is free and open to the public.
