Baja California’s Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, praised the consolidation of the Port of Ensenada as a key tourist destination, amid a notable increase in cruise arrivals and passengers in early 2025.
The governor highlighted that Baja California is recognized nationwide for its variety of landscapes and experiences: its seas, deserts, mountains, wines, cuisine, and unique warmth of its people, she assured, set it apart from the rest of Mexico.

“We are positioning Baja California as a world-class tourist destination, full of culture, history, and one of a kind adventures. Tourism is one of our main focuses to continue generating well-being, employment, and growth in our communities,” she noted.
In this regard, she pointed out that the 49th edition of the Tianguis Turístico offers a major opportunity to establish the state as one of Mexico’s most appealing destinations.

According to Mexico’s Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR), the Port of Ensenada recorded 51 cruise arrivals between January and February 2025, surpassing the 46 recorded in the same period in 2024, a 10.9% increase.
Passenger numbers also rose 25.5%, from 135,399 in 2024 to 169,979 in 2025.
Mexican Pacific ports have welcomed more than 632,000 passengers this year, with Ensenada being one of the leading destinations for maritime tourism.
