Pachuca 2-1 Xolos: Tijuana Xolos give away the win

Xolos had the win the bag, and let it go.

PACHUCA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will go over one year without a win on the road as the lose 2-1 against Pachuca in week three action of the LIGA Bancomer MX.

Tijuana Xolos had the match under control and seemed like the were on cruise control to an easy win over the "Tuzos" to put an end to their winless streak on the road. January 20th of 2013 was the last time Tijuana won a match outside of the Estadio Caliente.

Midfielder Cristian Pellerano gave the Xolos an early lead with his second goal in two matches. Pellerano controlled the ball outside of the box and fired a rocket into the top corner of the goal to open the score. Pachuca goalkeeper Oscar Perez did not even dive as he had no chance to reach the well placed shot.

Tijuana kept on dominating the match and having some clear goal scoring opportunities. But a lack of finishing did not allow the visitors to increase their lead.

United States Men's National Team striker Herculez Gomez had plenty of opportunities to score and will want to quickly forget this game. In the first half a Richard Ruiz cross went right though two defenders and Gomez was not ready for the ball and could not get a shot off.

In the second half Tijuana looked to see out the final 45 minutes for the three points. But two huge defensive mistakes turned the game around and allowed the home side to pick up their first win of the season and first win since last October.

Cristian Pellerano was cut on the right side of the field and the Pachuca player was allowed to send in a clean cross to the box. Pellerano's younger brother Hernan Pellerano saw Valencia run past him and easily tap the ball into the net with his head after a bounce. Xolos goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo was also to blam as he could have stepped out of his line to cut down the cross.

Minutes later on another Saucedo mistake coming out for the ball, Hernan Pellerano ended up on the floor on the goal line. As Pellerano was getting up the ball hit his hand, which prevented the ball from going into the goal. Center referee had no choice but to award the penalty to Pachuca.

Pellerano was lucky not see a straight red card for the play.

Club Tijuana manager sent in Joe Corona and Paul Arriola looking for the equalizing goal. Herculez Gomez had another clear chance late in the game but rushed his shot which sailed over the cross bar.

The Xolos will now come back home to the Estadio Caliente where they will host Monarcas Morelia. Morelia is the last team to defeat the Xolos at home back on April 20, 2013. Morelia is also one of two teams that the Xolos have not been able to defeat since being promoted to first division.
