TIJUANA After the heaviest snowstorm of the season, a stretch of La Rumorosa, a curving mountain road about 70 miles east of the city, was reopened around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, state authorities announced.
The highway was closed Monday night at 9, said Alfredo Escobedo, the director of the states Civil Protection agency.
He spent Tuesday morning inspecting the mountain road, which connects to Mexicali. He said traffic had started to flow once more and that there were no problems.
He said that the snow started falling around 5 p.m Monday, alternating with strong winds and rain.
For its part, Tijuana weathered the storm without major problems, save for some flooded streets, traffic accidents and a few power outages, according to the fire department.
