IEEBC confirms candidacy of MORENA member Ismael Burgueño for the mayor's office of Tijuana

Ismael Burgueño will be a candidate for the mayor's office after it was proven he does not owe alimony and is not registered as not complying with this payment, said the State Electoral Institute of Baja California

The participation of Ismael Burgueño Ruiz as the candidate for the municipal presidency of Tijuana as part of the "Sigamos Haciendo Historia" coalition has been confirmed, after it was proven that he does not owe alimony and is not registered as not complying with this payment, this was revealed by the State Electoral Institute of Baja California (IEEBC).

The Court of Electoral Justice of the Judicial Branch of Baja California responded to seven complaints that had been submitted by a citizen, two civil society organizations, and political representatives of the Partido del Trabajo (PT), Acción Nacional (PAN), Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), and Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) parties who had said he had violated electoral law by running as a candidate in an election while being registered as a state or federal alimony debtor.

It should be noted that the MORENA party member had a family trial in 2015 against Claudia Acosta Gutiérrez, in which the judged ordered him to allocate 35% of his wages to alimony.

After this judicial sentence, MORENA was ordered to deduce this amount from his wages so he could comply with his family obligations, as he was the state president of this party in Baja California.

The morning of Friday, May 17, IEEBC stated that the aspiring candidate for the mayor's office of Tijuana, Ismael Burgueño, had not violated any laws, referring to the payments made in April and the first biweekly payment of May with the appropriate percentage.

Regarding this lawsuit, IEEBC emphasized that the alimony payment is within allowed limits by article 306 in the Civil Code of Baja California.

Judge Diego Baruch notified the Court of Electoral Justice of the Judicial Branch of Baja California that Ismael Burgueño had complied with his alimony obligations and that, as of May 13, there is no debt and he is not registered in the state or federation as not paying alimony.
